Labor Law:  representation of labor unions in all aspects of union functions.

Experience

Attorney Jack J. Canzoneri has practiced labor law exclusively on behalf of unions since joining the firm in 1993. As labor counsel for more than 24 years, he has amassed experience and expertise handling hundreds of arbitrations covering a multitude of issues. His work in this regard has included both grievance and interest arbitrations for the entire spectrum of the firm’s union clients—from bargaining units of registered nurses in the healthcare industry, to police and fire, to correction officers and security guards, as well as numerous classifications of municipal and state workers.

Further, Attorney Canzoneri has extensive experience representing unions at contract negotiations and mediation. This includes meticulously working with union clients to prepare for contract negotiations, helping the union negotiating committee identify priorities and concerns, drafting specific language for contract proposals and counter proposals, and functioning as the chief spokesperson for the union at the bargaining table.

Also, Attorney Canzoneri has regularly represented unions before state and federal labor agencies including the National Labor Relations Board, the United States Department of Labor, the Massachusetts Department of Labor Relations, and the Massachusetts Joint Labor Management Committee.

In court Attorney Canzoneri has handled countless matters for union clients and their members relating to a wide array of issues affecting them. Attorney Canzoneri has developed specific expertise in representing union workers in overtime claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Massachusetts Wage Act in federal and state court. He has also argued on multiple occasions before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit as well as state appellate courts.

Attorney Canzoneri is recognized for excellence in the practice of labor law by the “Massachusetts Super Lawyers.”

Prior to the practice of law, Jack pursued a career as a professional trumpeter, playing both jazz and classical music and studying at a conservatory of music.
